Sunken Park is a great little park located right at the top of the ferry landing in Friday Harbor. To get down into the basketball court area you need to go down the stairs or the handicap accessible ramp. Its got a full court concrete basketball court with rims that are in good condition along with good nets and fresh painted lines.

I took these photos at about 9 p.m. During the summer. As you can see the park is quiet.

As you can see the drinking fountains are working great. Delicious and cold water with great water pressure will keep you cool and refreshed in Friday Harbor.

If the normal drinking fountains are not enough you always have this option. Great for washing your hands, refilling your water bottle, hydrating your dog or filling up water balloons.

On the upper area of the park is this little kids area with a couple swings and springy toys. Lots of rocks to throw around at each other. Kids love throwing rocks.

As you can see the park is pet friendly and has these little doggie bag stations positioned around. If your dog drops one please make use of these doggie bags… the picnickers and ballplayers will thank you! Related: Q and A about pet friendly travel to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island.

There are a couple picnic benches positioned in the lower area of the park and a couple more on the upper area of the park next to the barbecue. This upper area makes for a great place to spectate the basketball games. Friday Harbor wouldn’t be complete without a nice park like this for summer games and events.

Looking west down Nichols Street. Cafes, Coho Restaurant, galleries, and Ace Hardware are down that direction.

This is the Friday Harbor ferry landing overflow lot B. This is where you park if you are going to Anacortes or some other island on the ferry and lot A is full. If it is a busy weekend in Friday Harbor you might end up in lot C. On busy weekends we suggest you get to the ferry landing early to park your car in line and then browse around town or get a bite to eat.

This is the coffee shop right above the park.

Also right above the park is this condominium and retail complex. San Juan property management have a vacation rental for rent in here that have a view over Sunken Park. This complex also contains a coffee shop, a real estate office, a small convenience and souvenir shop, plus some private condominiums for sale.
